Neural Reset Therapy
A Gentle, Neurologically Based Approach to Muscle Tension
Neural Reset Therapy® (NRT) is a gentle form of bodywork designed to help muscles release excessive tension by working with the nervous system.
Rather than applying sustained pressure or forcefully manipulating tight tissue, NRT uses precise positioning, light resistance, movement, tapping, or vibration to provide new sensory information to the nervous system. This may allow the body to adjust muscle tension and restore more comfortable, efficient movement.
What to Expect During Your Visit
Your 60-Minute Therapeutic Massage With NRT
NRT is currently offered within a 60-minute Therapeutic Massage with Jill. Your appointment will begin with a consultation to discuss what you are experiencing, how it affects your movement, and what you hope to improve.
Your therapist will then determine whether your session should focus primarily on NRT or whether NRT would be most beneficial when combined with other therapeutic massage techniques.
This allows your session to be completely individualized rather than limited to one modality or predetermined routine.
Consultation and Assessment
Your therapist may evaluate your range of motion, compare movement on each side of your body, and gently check specific muscles for areas of tenderness or excessive tension.
Because the body often develops compensation patterns, the area being evaluated may not always be the same place where you are experiencing discomfort.
Please share any relevant injuries, surgeries, medical conditions, medications, or recent changes in your health.
During the Session
Depending on your needs and the approach selected, your therapist may use:
Gentle positioning or stretching
Brief, light muscular resistance
Small guided movements
Light tapping or vibration
Gentle contact with specific muscles
Traditional therapeutic massage techniques
You may occasionally be asked to move in a certain direction, hold a position, or lightly push against your therapist’s hand. Nothing should feel forceful, and you are encouraged to communicate throughout your session.
Clothing and Draping
If your appointment is primarily focused on NRT, the technique may be performed while you remain fully clothed. Comfortable, flexible clothing such as leggings, joggers, shorts, or athletic wear is recommended.
If NRT is being incorporated into a therapeutic massage, you may undress to your personal comfort level. Professional draping will be used throughout the session, just as it is during any massage appointment.
Your therapist will explain the recommended approach and make sure you are comfortable before beginning.
Reassessment
After working with an area, your therapist may recheck the muscle, repeat a movement, or ask how the area feels. This helps identify changes in muscle tension, comfort, or ease of movement and guides the remainder of your session.
What Does NRT Feel Like?
NRT generally feels gentle and can be very different from traditional massage. You may notice light tapping, vibration, brief resistance, stretching, or small changes in position.
Some clients notice an immediate difference in how a muscle feels or how easily they can move. Others experience more gradual changes following their appointment.
When NRT is combined with therapeutic massage, your therapist will create a balanced session that addresses your specific concerns while preserving the relaxing, restorative experience you expect from your time with us.
After Your Session
Most clients can return to their normal activities after their appointment. You may feel relaxed, tired, lighter, or more aware of changes in your movement.
Occasionally, mild temporary soreness may occur as your body adjusts. Pay attention to how you feel and contact your healthcare provider if you experience new, severe, or concerning symptoms.
Is NRT Right for Me?
NRT may be worth exploring if you experience persistent muscle tension, limited movement, or discomfort and would prefer an approach that does not rely solely on deep pressure.
Because NRT can be used alone or incorporated into a Therapeutic Massage, your therapist can personalize the session based on your body, comfort level, and goals.
NRT is a complementary bodywork technique and is not a substitute for medical evaluation or treatment. Unexplained pain, significant weakness, numbness, swelling, recent trauma, or other concerning symptoms should be evaluated by an appropriate healthcare provider before receiving bodywork.
